Why wear AG boots on 3G?
Artificial pitches are grippier than natural grass. FG studs can stick in the surface, put extra stress on your knees and ankles, and wear out quickly. AG soleplates spread the pressure with more, shorter studs.
AG, AG-PRO, FG/AG, MG?
AG-PRO is Nike's name for its premium AG plate; adidas uses AG. FG/AG and MG (multi-ground) boots are a compromise if you play on both grass and 3G.
FAQ
Can I use AG boots on natural grass?
On dry, firm grass, yes. On soft or wet grass the shorter studs give less grip, so an FG boot is better.
Are AG boots good for astroturf?
On old, short, sandy astroturf, TF (turf) boots with small rubber studs are a better choice. AG boots are designed for long-pile 3G pitches.
